At Fit for Purpose, our Equine Podiatry service focuses on natural, barefoot hoof care that optimizes your horse’s health and movement. We understand that horses have evolved with a hoof system designed for strength, shock absorption, and adaptability. But in today’s world, they need a little help to thrive.
Our Integrated Equine Podiatry (IEP) approach combines barefoot trimming, environmental adaptation, and nutritional guidance to offer holistic hoof care that supports your horse from the ground up. Whether your horse is transitioning to barefoot, working on abrasive surfaces, or simply needs regular maintenance, we provide a practical and compassionate approach to hoof health.
Our aim is to work with you and your horse and all of the members other multi-disciplinary team that look after your needs. We are happy to work alongside vets/farriers/body workers/coaches/trainers/nutritionists/saddlers to optimize health, well being and performance to keep your horse ‘Fit for Purpose’.
What We Offer:
Consultation & Hoof Assessment: A thorough initial visit includes reviewing your horse’s history, environment, feeding, and any challenges you face. We’ll assess your horse’s hooves and movement, and together, we’ll design a care plan tailored to their needs.
Trimming & Maintenance Cycle: Regular hoof trims focused on comfort, balance, and healthy weight distribution. We offer a trimming cycle that ranges from 2 to 6 weeks based on your horse's condition and goals. The plan will be reviewed and refined as needed.
Hoof Boots & Pads: If extra support is needed, we can advise re-of hoof boots and pads that aid comfort and enhance performance.
